With this photo we could list all the positives about living at Seabeach, the services available, the feeling of community etc, but we won't. Instead, we will simply say this;
Life is meant to be enjoyed ... So it enjoy it with us.

We hope everyone has had a wonderful Easter Sunday, however you chose to spend it.
We are taking a short break from eating chocolate, to enjoy a beautiful roast dinner, prepared by our wonderful chef.
Better ๐๐ค๐ฅ to it!

#FlashbackFriday to last weekend when the incredible #CoronaEnsemble (#HumphHall) visited our Village and put on an incredible show.
The talented group, armed with a keyboard and an array of string instruments, treated our ears to a delightful afternoon of music, and we can confirm that the room was radiating joy.
A HUGE turnout for one of our first events since COVID hit and it was a pleasure not only seeing the happiness on our residents faces but, but also having the team from Humph Hall back in the Village.
ENCORE! ๐ ENCORE!

At Seabeach Gardens, our gardens arenโt the only thing that are green ๐ We are consistently trying to incorporate practices that fit with the term ๐น๐ฌ๐ซ๐ผ๐ช๐ฌ, ๐น๐ฌ๐ผ๐บ๐ฌ, ๐น๐ฌ๐ช๐๐ช๐ณ๐ฌ such as:
โข Stock: We make our own stock using chicken bones sourced from a local butcher as well as excess vegetables, to reduce our weekly waste.
โข Batteries: hearing aid batteries, remote control batteries โฆ the list goes on. We all use them and now, our staff and residents are in the habit of bring their used batteries to reception, where we collect them before taking them to the recycle bin available at Aldi
โข Soft plastics: residents are encouraged to hand in any clean, soft plastics tour staff. Our dedicated staff member, Lily, goes through all the plastics, makes sure they are appropriate and recycles them at Coles/Woolworths drop-off points
โข Unwearable clothes/materials: we take all unwearable clothes, old bed sheets, cloths etc. to H&M, where they accept all materials and recycle them
โข Spectacles: unwanted glasses seem to be something we all hold on too however, since discovering these can be recycled at Specsavers, residents, and staff alike now hand in their glasses to be dropped off. These glasses are then given to people in need overseas.
โข Candle Jars: We collect used candle jars and donate them to a local candlemaker who is trying to start their own business. Recycling and supporting small business? Yes please!
โข Old towels: itโs easy to throwaway old towels that are faded, marked or have holes, but yep, there is a use even for these. A local carpet cleaning company always has a need for towels, so these are happily handed over to them.
โข Unwanted items: we donate all sorts of items to different charities in our area, giving clothing, furniture, dรฉcor etc a second life.
โข Shredded paper: We go through more paper than we would like however, even our shredded paper has a use. A staff member drops of bags of shredded paper to pet shops in her area.
โขJars: One of our talented residents, Margaret, makes the most DELICIOUS marmalade and lemon butter. Margaret uses empty, steralised jars, donated by other residents, to package the jams, then hands them into reception where other residents can take one and make a donation, which go towards children that the Village sponsor in Ghana.
โข Ink toner: All empty toner cartridges are recycled at Officeworks โฆ how convenient that is just across the road.
โข Coffee cups: We use 100% compostable coffee cups with our coffee machine. Made from FSC-certified paper with a plant-based PLA lining, they can be commercially composted in under 12 weeks after use.
We're always open to new ways we can do our part for the environment. These small steps can make a big difference to our planet and that's all the motivation we need.

Last year we tried to do 'Class Photos' to celebrate the friendships and social groups that meet together throughout the year however, with COVID, we were unable to do so.
Fast forward to this time last week and we finally got the photos done!! Photos are being edited and each resident, in each photo, will receive a copy.
As you can see we have a number of groups that get together weekly, with more being added whenever the interest is shown. This is an amazing way to keep minds working whilst enjoying the simple pleasure of being amoung friends, doing something that brings joy.
Anyway, the bar volunteers have just taken their post behind the bar for happy hour, so ... we're off!! ๐ฅ Cheers to friends, old and new!
